Reverand Isaac Hecker also established the Catholic Publication Society, later called Paulist Press, which printed the first national catholic magazine, the Catholic Press. The Paulists also broadcasted "apostle on the air" on radio station WLWL on the site. The church operated a school from 1880s-1974.
