Collection of miscellaneous documents related to various American Ethical Culture societies and fellowships. Records consist of publications, programs, announcements, pamphlets, news clippings, newsletters, correspondence, photographs, reports, and membership rolls. The Ethical Culture Societies include Baltimore, Bergen County (New Jersey), Boston, Chicago, Essex County (New Jersey), Long Island (New York), Los Angeles County (California), Northern Westchester County (New York), Philadelphia, Queens County (New York), Riverdale/Yonkers (New York), San Francisco, St. Louis, Suffolk County (New York), Washington, D.C., and Westchester County (New York). Also included are defunct societies in Greater Hartford (Connecticut), Lakeland (New Jersey), Cleveland, Princeton (New Jersey), Southern Connecticut, Rockland County (New York), San Fernando County (California), the Bronx (New York City), Harlem (New York City), Down Town (New York City), Grand Rapids (Michigan), Milwaukee, Harvard University, Newark (New Jersey), Rochester (New York), Scranton (Pennsylvania), Tacoma (Washington), Washington Heights (New York City), and Wilmington (Delaware). The bulk of the collection relates to the New York Society for Ethical Culture. Among its records are minutes, reports, and correspondence concerning the Workers Fellowship; Women's Conferences, 1898-1984; Institute for Ethical Studies; Good Neighbor Committee, 1939-1942; United Relief Works, 1879-1941; Printer's School; Settlement Houses; Hudson Guild; Madison House; and Neighborhood Guild. Also included are biographical information on members and manuscript histories of the New York Society and several of the large societies by James Wallerstein.
