Boys and Girls' High School
1975 - present
The Boys’ and Girls’ School is a community in High School in Bedford-Stuyvesant that has been in operation since 1975. This site initially was the new Boys’ High School, an older school located at 832 Marcy Avenue, but shortly before this building opened for the 1975-76 schoolyear, the Boys’ HIgh School became co-ed and this school became known as the Boys’ and Girls’ High School. Boys’ and Girls’ High School existed as a large community high school, but into the late 2000s and 2010s, under Mayor Bloomberg’s small school movement, the school reduced enrollments drastically. Today, the Boys’ and Girls’ High School serve around 480 students. The High School shares its building with Nelson Mandela High School and Research and Service High School.
