P.S. 150 Tribeca Learning Center
September 08, 2022 - present
P.S. 150 is a public elementary school under the leadership of the New Yor City Board of Education. P.S. 150 has a winding and rich history that is unclear at times but is fascinating as it is pieced together. Its history shines light on how the neighborhood of Tribeca in Manhattan became increasingly residential as opposed to industrial, which it mostly was up until the mid-twentieth century. Prior to 1988, P.S. 150’s history is unclear. It is known that the “Early Childhood Center” and “P.S. 150” opened as a singular and small public institution at 334 Greenwich in 1988. As the neighborhood grew in its residential populations over the succeeding decades, P.S. 150’s student body grew with it and needed a new, larger space. Under the pressure of parents, the school moved to its new location at 28-42 Trinity Place in 2022.
